What’s Thermography?

Clinical Thermography is a strategic partnership and the ultimate in early detection. Once infrared technology was declassified by the military, many industries began understanding and leveraging its potential, including the medical research field.

The Ultimate Early Detection

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging, or thermography,  is a highly sensitive, non-invasive imaging procedure. With digital technology, the temperature data collected by an infrared camera from the human body creates a thermogram or a thermal map. This allows for a look into the sympathetic nervous system, via skin blood flow. The human body is thermally symmetrical and our normal thermal patterns are constant and repeatable. We can use comparative views, left to right, to detect physiological dysfunction.

Pathology and injury will cause a sympathetic change and in most cases thermal asymmetry. Learn more from this ebook.  Finally, here's an article that will help you fully appreciate this technology.

The benefits? Thermography offers the opportunity to detect thermal abnormalities early before a symptom presents itself. This way, a healthcare practitioner can be made aware of any changes that could indicate the early onset of disease. ANY change demands attention, early intervention is critical!

Although thermography is popular for breast health risk assessment, RHI specializes in full-body scans - believing in a more holistic approach.

Our Technology that looks beneath your skin

Our Infrared scanner, computer hardware, and analysis software is made in the USA. The engineers at Meditherm build the IR detector and software and provide ongoing technical support to include routine maintenance and calibration.

  • RHI uses Meditherm's IRIS 160, and IRIS 640 detectors, FDA registered as a Class 1 Medical Device. Meditherm products are fully compliant with all regulatory requirements.

  • The Meditherm FDA Manufacturer registration number is 3006111110.

  • The EC Conformity classification is MDD Annex IX, Rule 12, Class 1. A full list of standards is available on request.

  • The cameras, or IR detectors, collect temperature readings from the skin surface. Via digital technology, that data becomes a thermal image real-time on the computer screen then saved in the patient's electronic file.

Thermologists & Your Report

Medical doctors interpret the thermal images for abnormal heat patterns and asymmetries. Board certification and training is provided by the American College of Clinical Thermology (ACCT).

RHI contracts with a professional thermology group, Electronic Medical Interpretation (EMI), to interpret the patient's images. EMI is an organization of medical doctors (MD or DO) who represent a variety of specialties such as Emergency Medicine, Functional Medicine, OB/GYN, General Practice, Radiology, that are also board-certified in Thermology.

Pathology falls within their scope of practice. This group is 20+ strong  and provides peer-review as well as second opinion options. Practitioners are welcome to consult with EMI on a report. And their turnaround time for a report is 2-3 days. That allows us to process your report and get it to you within a week's time or less.

Thermographers - The Professionals You Meet!

A thermographer is a trained technician specific to the field of thermography. They're trained to take thermographic images according to strict standards and protocols. The certification training is provided by the American College of Clinical Thermology (ACCT).
